Its February, the month of red everywhere, and where lots of people feel pressure to get roped into the commercial process of card and present buying. Whether you think Valentine’s Day is a commercialisation of your relationship, or a money making exercise, Valentine’s Day cards are still up there as the highest amount of cards sold apart from Christmas. Proposals are made on this day more than any other day of the year and there could be more than 100 thousand people propose on the official romantic day. How do you feel about this famous day? do you hate it or love it?

All I can say is it’s hard for me to be miserable on Valentine’s, as it’s my birthday. That means I am happy no matter what. Birthday’s should be fun, it just means if I ever want to book a restaurant, it’s always harder to get booked in somewhere. I don’t personally hate Valentine’s, I just think that one day shouldn’t define your relationship. If you are lucky enough to be in a couple, then just doing nice things for each other all year round should be something you want to do anyway. No bouquet of flowers is going to make up for being an inconsiderate partner for the rest of the year!

Because it’s my birthday coming up I said I wanted to go to a beauty salon and get my eyebrows shaped. I have found as I have got older that they just seem to be disappearing before my eyes! I needed them to have a better shape, and as I am no expert I thought I would go check out the Brow Lounge on Ecclesall Road Sheffield. I liked the look of it from the outside, and like interiors where I appreciate experts that specialise in one area, I feel like that about beauty too. One place focusing on one thing sounds good to me. In fact, it isn’t just good it’s award winning. Having won best beauty salon for Exposed Magazine 2016, I can see why. Feeling nervous, I was made to feel instantly relaxed, by the lovely Nadiya, and she did wonders with my brows. I am going to be totally honest, it felt relaxing until the plucking started then I wanted to sneeze and believe me when I say I don’t sneeze quietly. Thankfully for the whole salon, I didn’t sneeze and came out with lovely shaped eyebrows to feel proud of. Nowhere to be seen are huge black brows, but more like a soft brown focus which is funny because now you can see every expression on my face, so if I am mad about something you will know instantly, which makes me giggle.

My other time this week was spent pottering around local shops and I just thought why not pop into Primark and see what might be happening with their SS17 home range. There are some fantastic products in I have to say, and a feeling of H&M about it. This makes me wonder if a head buyer has moved over from H&M or that Primark has upped its game on the home front. Either way, I was very impressed by the new range of cushions and accessories. Cactus was a huge trend in 2016 and this home collection offers cool cactus products with cactus candles, plus this fab bunting at a cool price £3.00.  The grown up safari look will definitely play a huge part in SS17, and cushions with birds on for £5.00 will sell out very quickly. Other cushions had a metallic touch and will fit in great for this next season’s trends. My favourite thing was the cactus candle set, and I am sorry I don’t have a picture, you will just have to go look yourself 🙂

Having an invite to a bar on a school night might not seem like a wise thing to do, but when it is the refurbishment of one of your all time favourite bars you have grown up with The Forum, you know you’re going to make allowances right? That’s what I thought, I am definitely going. Being an Interior blogger meant I got invited to go to the opening night on Thursday 2nd February, and check out all the new interiors in this famous bar that has been open for 25 years! I have a blog post to follow on this later in the week!

Hope you have a fun week x

It’s funny, my best friend’s birthday is on Valentine’s Day as well! I’m glad you’re going to the event even though it’s a school night. It’s only one night, so why not? Have fun!

I don’t hate Valentine’s Day but I don’t make it into a huge deal either. The other day’s of the year are just as important to your relationship as Valentine’s Day. I imagine it is probably quite difficult to go out to dinner to celebrate your birthday unless you really plan ahead x

My husband and I don’t do Valentine’s day simply because we celebrate our wedding anniversary and normally like to surprise each other on normal days out of the blue, which I think is more important than folow the crowd and celebrate the love on one day only.. However, I did used to enjoy Valentine’s day in school when we used to get secret admirers post ha ha each to their own I guess, if you celebrate great, if you don’t its great too!
