Hello hope you have been having a good week so far 🙂 I spent my time this week finalising the details on my new home in Southsea. It’s a very big move for us, having lived in our current house for 13 years. When my hubby started his job last year, the thought of managing three days seemed great. My hubby was getting a pay rise he deserved, he was to travel on a Monday morning and come back on a Wednesday night. This was fine for a few weeks then the travel hit him like a ton of bricks. So it was decided he would travel down on a Sunday afternoon so he wouldn’t be so tired starting work Monday morning. After nearly a year this was ok, but Wednesday nights was a long drive home usually 5.5 hours after a day at work.

Even though I said I wouldn’t move, even I could see this wasn’t good for my husband. He was tired, already I could see an impact on his health. Looking around in half term I felt slightly deflated by living somewhere that didn’t have a vibrant city on its doorstep. Seeing a beautiful house on the Isle of White, it got me thinking that we could really make this work. Living on an island seemed idyllic, but then the travel would affect hubby again and all of a sudden we hit a dead end.

Finding Southsea was interesting to me. There are plenty of Interior shops and it is full to the brim of Independents. I found the house first, a Georgian townhouse on 4 floors, the kind like in the film Jack & Sarah and just what has always been a dream for us to live in. Having wonderful spaces to display our furniture, it seemed ideal. I spent quite a while researching the area. We travelled down on a dreary Bank Holiday and walked quite a way around the town. Loving the house and it’s location the fact it’s a very short distance to the common green and sea means there are lots to do there, we have fallen in love with the area and hoping we are going to enjoy this new venture.

So we are moving quite a distance away, but my heart will always stay in the north and especially Sheffield. I know I won’t be able to keep away, plus the fact my son is living there means I will be up in Yorkshire as much as I can. My usual places I visit will not even realise I have been anywhere else, apart from maybe more colour in my cheeks as apparently Southsea has a micro climate, and has great temperatures yay! At the moment I am planning every day so I can clear out as much rubbish and decide what I am taking with me to Hampshire. This is an ideal time to declutter, and oh boy I am going to use that as my ultimate weapon.

At the weekend I visited Peddler market on the Saturday with a good friend. We ventured there in the afternoon and drank ale and cider, tucking into street food while discussing life and people watching. There seemed to be so many more dogs there this time 🙂 what I loved the most was seeing the finished piece by Jo peel in the Depot Bakery. I remember talking to Natalie the co-owner of Tamper, about how she was looking to do something with Jo down at the Depot and it is just so good to see in the flesh.

Sunday was spent travelling up to the big house Wentworth Woodhouse, to help volunteer for the Artisan Food Event they were holding all weekend. 120 stalls of delightful food, with so many other stalls of craft teas, handbags, fragrance lamps and so much more. I absolutely love this house. Watching it from a distance as a little girl, I used to imagine what it would be like inside and think about how grand the rooms would be. In all honesty I just don’t think the public understand just how amazing this house is. Having 365 rooms to boast about and a wonderful history, which had rumours last year of being turned into a film (oh yes please!) I think there is going to be so much more to come from this place, keep your eyes peeled!  To think the house has now been sold to a trust, that it will be a place our children will be able to visit gives me great joy. That is why I loved the opportunity to help out there and try and raise much-needed money for repairs and future projects. I met a man from Edinburgh, who loved the house as much as me. Travelling all the way from Scotland to volunteer at the house and dedicate his time was just lovely and inspiring. While I was out volunteering around the grounds outside I came across a fab little boutique type stall that was selling gorgeous babywear and toddler wear they were called Olive Made. I have a 5 baby christening at the end of the month and saw these cute bibs that just had to be purchased. Personally, I think these are going to go down a treat with the cute babies. I just can’t wait to take a picture of them all wearing them!

Pottering around I also bought some Blue Lagoon tea that is actually Blue. It has a light taste and texture to it so I thought I would give it a try. Oh boy, this tea is cool because it is the brightest Blue you have ever seen but also has a gentle taste. You can find this tea at Craft Tea Company, I just wish I had more time and money to try more.

Please check my blog this wknd as I give a review of the new play on at the Montgomery Theatre In Sheffield ‘The Dirty Rotten Scoundrels!’ I am so excited to be seeing this tomorrow night 🙂 Plus I haven’t ever seen the Interiors, I am looking forward to the whole experience.

Have a great week xx

I hear you about decluttering. It’s crazy how much all of the stuff adds up! Moving is such a great excuse to rid ourselves of all of it. I wish you the very best with your move!
