It’s Monday and my first day back to work. I have so much to look forward to and so excited to be thinking about all my plans. Are you the same? Where you have loved Christmas and thought about your year while eating a huge box of chocolates and thinking you’re not sure if you’re ever going to be able to face another roast dinner again?

So what did I love design wise this year? Well, I loved getting Rockett St George’s Extraordinary Interior book. If you love interiors it’s so lovely to buy books and get inspiration from them. What I found when I opened the pages is one of the most inspirational people in the book came from Sheffield and I didn’t even know! I loved how there was a wide range of influencers in the book from lots of locations and that made my heart very happy.

I loved looking at blogs and felt happy to be reading more of mad about the house. Kate has a great way of drawing you into her world by her own home photo’s, I will never tire of looking at her bathroom. She also holds a lot of influence and has great contacts so you often see her interviewing great people I like to know more about.

Instagram was a big visual explosion for me because I started my account in November of 2016 so it has been a year of loving so many photos and communicating with some great folk out there. I am a colour freak who likes my page to look easy on the eye so I tend to use the same colours! Do you ever stop and look at the saved photos you have?

Even though so many influencers have said that typography is on its way out and we will want to see less of it I still find myself drawn to it even more. One company that has made me smile a lot in 2017 is New Icons of Print. They offer such cool prints for such good prices that it can cheer up even the dreariest of corners.

One thing I have learned this past year is not to be completely drawn by trends and to allow myself to love what I love. So this year I will still be treasuring my favourite pieces.

Over the past year, one thing still remains fresh in my mind and that’s round mirrors. Still loving them and definitely looking to add more round mirrors to my home. I went to go take the enormous xmas tree to the recycling and came back with the most enjoyable piece I can’t wait to add somewhere. This is because at the local recycling centre they have a a shop where people donate their unwanted items and you can buy furniture and accessories. I am a sucker for flea markets, car boot sales so I love having a wander whenever I can.

This year for me is about working on the beach cabin and getting the work done so I can just enjoy everything about being there, I can’t wait to get stuck in. I will be selling my home in the North and looking to the future for more memories to build. Having spent 7 months by the sea I have realised I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. Southsea is lovely. There is so much more scope for it to grow and I believe it will. Having met great people that have moved here from London and other areas it has a wonderful vibe. I like to call it little Brighton because that’s what it is to me.

Green became a welcoming colour we wanted to see thrown around Instagram pages last year and there was even a girl building up a fantastic site called girl with the green sofa! Having spent a long time in my basement I have realised that our Chesterfield sofa has truly had its day. Not because of its looks, but the comfiness factor means it has to go and I may feel the need to invest in some velvet. Something Green and definitely comfy!

Concrete got me excited at the beginning of last year and to be honest I haven’t tired of it yet, so I am loving its expansion across the magazines and Instagram pages and seeing it grow to be even more. Kitchens being built with a concrete look to wall tiles and even sink areas being designed means this material is here to stay!

Design programmes I enjoyed this last year has to be Amazing Spaces! I love George Clarke. Ok I have to admit I have a soft spot for him. There are not many men that fit into that top five I can tell you but he fits it so well. An architect who is not only lovely with a great smile and loves interiors but he has a warmth to him that I like. Amazing spaces just inspires me and makes me feel even the tiniest of spaces can really be something.

These are my goals and dreams for this year, whether I get to achieve any of them is another thing but I think it is good to have goals. I am loving the idea of a dreams board in my office and so will be looking at inspiring walls which I will share with you soon. I am wanting something very visual that is going to take me through this year. Whatever your goals/ dreams are for this year lets hope it is a good one!

  1. To travel as much as I can. Go see some architecture and visit an art gallery in another country.
  2. To buy 3 key pieces for my home that I am going to love for a long time
  3. To finish my office design and create an inviting and inspiring space.
  4. To visit a few hotels to get some design ideas for home.
  5. To create a dreams/goals wall so I can feel inspired every day.
  6. To keep believing in myself and push myself.
  7. Enjoy my surroundings and travel more around the South Coast and find more beaches and more interior shops.
  8. Enjoy the special moon moments. Did you know that there is going to be a Blue Moon at the end of January? I am rather excited about this!
  9. To love myself more and spend 10 mins a day feeling good about something even if that is enjoying my cup of tea!
